John Downing

Before joining the NU-Q faculty, Downing served as professor of international communication and founding director of the Global Media Research Center, in the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts at Southern Illinois University. He was previously John T. Jones Centennial Professor of Communication in the Radio-TV-Film Department at the University of Texas, Austin. Downing has taught courses in communication and culture; globalization and the media; alternative media and social movements; political cinema of the global South; media, dictatorship, and democracy; as well as ethnicity, racism and the media. He is author/editor of a number of books, and author of many research articles and chapters in edited collections.

Mike Igoe

Assistant Professor Mike Igoe at Fredonia University, Communication Department. He has been giving courses in journalism and media law fields. Igoe, who worked as a journalist for 30 years and won number of awards, gave lectures and helped student projects in Media and Communication Department at Izmir University of Economics. 

Miyase Christensen

Miyase Christensen is Professor of Media and Communication Studies at Stockholm University and Guest Professor at the Department of Philosophy and History of Technology, Science and Environment, The Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. 

Nahed Eltantawy

Professor Nahed Eltantawy (High Point University) was a Fulbright visiting scholar in the Department of Media and Communication between the dates of 11-25 October, 2019. 

Laura Aymerich-Franch

Laura Aymerich-Franch who is currently a senior research fellow at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) was a visiting scholar in the Department of Media and Communication between the dates of 9-13 May, 2022. Dr. Aymerich-Franch has worked as a scholar at well-known institutes and universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT; USA), Standford University (USA). Her research promotes the applied uses of emerging technologies for well-being and behavioral transformation. She works with social robots, virtual reality, and conversational agents.
